Description (ESCI 7401). Provides foundation for advanced graduate research, including fundamentals of continuum mechanics, vector calculus, and solutions of the vector wave equation in homogeneous and inhomogeneous media; understanding of current theories of earthquake occurrence and wave propagation within the earth. PREREQUISITE(S): Differential equations.
