ECED 6510 - Early Childhood Programs and Practices Credit Hours: (3) Description This course explores, examines, and investigates the early childhood profession, its multiple historical, philosophical, and social foundations, and current issues, trends, and public policies affecting children, families, and programs for young children. Notably, this course also examines how early childhood became part of the national discourse on economic status and how this lens continues to be woven through early childhood. The roles and responsibilities of early childhood teachers are explored through observations in urban classroom settings. Teacher candidates will also consider the influence of their personal and teacher identities on their practice and professionalism. PREREQUISITE(S): TEP admission or permission of instructor.
