SPED 7221 - Behavior Management in Special Education/Early Childhood Credit Hours: (3) Description This course emphasizes services and supports for children from birth through five years old (with and without disabilities) and their families, including current intervention research. Field experiences in early childhood settings away from campus are required. Advanced strategies for managing social behaviors of learners with mild to severe disabilities; techniques for eliminating maladaptive behaviors, managing aggressive and antisocial behaviors, and teaching appropriate social skills. The topic of Trauma Informed Care Practices (TICP) will be incorporated within the Response to Intervention-Academic (RtI-A) and Response to Intervention-Behavior (RTI-B) discussion modules. Clinical Experience: 10 Hours observing in a classroom community. PREREQUISITE(S): SPED 7000 or equivalent.
