UAPP 8010 - Exploration of Urban Research Theory Credit Hours: 3 Description This survey course critically examines the theories and theoretical frameworks of the multiple social science disciplines central to the Urban Affairs Ph.D. curriculum. Topics to be covered include theories relevant to urbanism and urban built environments, their local government structure, urbanization processes, urban service provision, urban power and economics, industrial and post-industrial cities, and other urban forces. Covers urban theories ranging from classical to contemporary theoretical perspectives. PREREQUISITE(S): Permission of instructor or admission to the Urban Affairs doctoral program.
