BIOL 7060 - BIOLOGICAL DATA ANALYSIS

Description This course illustrates data analysis techniques used to answer questions in the biological sciences through case studies of real-world datasets from physiology, genomics, and biomedicine. Students gain hands-on experience answering biological questions via the writing and execution of computer code in the R/Bioconductor analysis environment. Speciﬁc applications include: evaluating effects of drugs on sleep duration, assessing insecticide efﬁcacy, and diagnosing heart disease based on clinical measurements, among others. Students reﬁne their understanding and gain additional experience with biological applications through assignments, a journal club, and a self-designed data analysis project. PREREQUISITE(S): BIOL 1010, MATH 4611, or instructor permission.
