CHEM 8511 - Biological Inorganic Chemistry Credit Hours: 3 Description Topics covered in this course will include the reactivity and characterization of metalloproteins. The first two thirds of the course will focus on structure and reactivity of common classes of metalloenzymes (Transferrins, Fe-S clusters, oxygenases, nitrogenases, etc.) while the final third of the course will discuss spectroscopic characterization methods utilized for metalloproteins: (Electronic Absorption (UV/VIS) spectroscopy, Resonance Raman Spectroscopy, EPR Spectroscopy, Circular Dichroism, Mössbauer Spectroscopy, and X-ray absorption). PREREQUISITE(S): CHEM 6111 or CHEM 6511 or CHEM 6520 or Permission of Instructor
