MATH 3221 - Elementary Number Theory Credit Hours: (3) Description: Divisibility properties of integers; prime numbers; congruences; Diophantine equations; quadratic residues; number theoretic functions; Fermat’s theorem and Euler’s generalization; applications to cryptography; quadratic reciprocity law.
PREREQUISITE: MATH 3242 with a minimum grade of C-, or MATH 2702 with a minimum grade of C-, or COMP 2700 with a minimum grade of C- or permission of instructor.
