SOCI 3422 - Racial/Ethnc Minorities ** Credit Hours: (3) Description: This course offers a comparative study of major racial and ethnic groups in the United States, focusing on their histories, cultural traditions, social experiences, and evolving identities. Students will explore how groups construct identity and navigate intergroup relations, including issues of inclusion, exclusion, and belonging. The course also addresses how systems of power and inequality shape access to education, employment, housing, political participation, and everyday life. Drawing on sociological theories of race, racism, and identity, students will examine both the challenges faced by subordinate groups and the ways they resist oppression and promote social change.
