Advanced studies in the molecular basis of bacterial genetics; including mutation and bacterial repair systems, complementation analysis, recombination, gene transfer mechanisms, gene conversion and marker effects, insertional elements, phase variation, and bacteriophage genetics. Three lecture hours per week. PREREQUISITE(S): BIOL 6470 or equivalent.
