BIOL 8708 - Data Science for Biologists(3) This graduate level course will present a hands-on survey of statistical and computational analyses commonly applied to biological data. The course will provide an introduction to computer programming in the R language and software environment. Using real-world biological datasets from ecology, physiology, and genomics, the course will explore supervised and unsupervised learning approaches such as linear and logistic regression, K-nearest neighbors, principal components analysis, and hierarchical clustering PREREQUISITE(S): One elementary statistics course or permission of instructor.
