(3) Major genres and authors of the Middle Ages; readings include the roman courtois of Chretien de Troyes, the Lais of Marie de France, le Roman de la Rose, Aucassin et Nicolette, le Roman de Renard, theatre, and lyric poetry from the trouveres to Charles d’Orleans and Villon. Grades of S, U, or IP will be given.
