(3) Techniques of analysis of styles and structure of music focusing on the Middle Ages/Renaissance and tonal periods through the nineteenth century; modal analysis, hexachordal concepts, use of LaRue techniques, introduction to Schenkerian principles, and the rhythmic theories of Lester. May be repeated for a maximum of 9 credit hours PREREQUISITE(S): COMP 6040 or COMP 6041 or permission of instructor.
