MHA/MBA

The University of Memphis School of Public Health and the Fogelman College of Business & Economics offer a combination degree targeted at students with an interest in health administration and business. This combination degree offers the student the ability to complete both the MHA and MBA degrees in less time than it takes to complete them separately.

Admission Requirements

Admission decisions to the MHA and MBA programs are separate. Students will apply and be accepted into each program separately.

Program Requirements

MHA Program

A student is required to complete a minimum of fifty-three (53) semester hours. Fifty (50) hours are taken in the core curriculum and three (3) hours of electives. The comprehensive examination (HADM 7210) must be successfully completed during the semester in which the student expects to graduate.

MBA Program

A student is required to complete thirty (30) hours of core curriculum, plus six (6) hours of elective courses, for a total of thirty six (36) credit hours.

Combination Degree Requirements

Students can earn a combination degree with 71-credit hours over as few as 24 months, if they wish.

For Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) accreditation, all required MHA classes are must be delivered in a traditional, in-class format. MBA courses may be taken online or in-class.
