The courses in the certificate will provide tools in microeconomics and macroeconomics that will help managers make better business decisions. It will provide training needed for students to pass the Certified Business Economist (CBE) exam offered by the National Association of Business Economists (NABE).

Graduate Certificate

The courses in the certificate will help managers translate data into models to make forecasts and to support decision making in a wide variety of fields, ranging from macroeconomics to finance and marketing. It will provide tools to be a “tech” economist, using econometrics and big data to analyze business problems.

Same as college and University requirements.

Program Requirements

The certificate program requires completion of 12 credit hours, chosen from the list of courses that follows:

ECON 6315 - Applied Macroeconomics Credit Hours: (3)
ECON 6810 - Quant Economic Analysis Credit Hours: (3)
ECON 6550 - Game Theory/Strategic Analysis Credit Hours: (3)
ECON 6023 - Personnel Economics Credit Hours: 3
ECON 6120 - Economic Forecasting Credit Hours: (3)
ECON 6820 - Econometrics Credit Hours: (3)

Graduation Requirements

To obtain the certificate, a student must take four of the five classes listed above. They must achieve an average grade of 3.0 (B) or better across the four classes.
