Engineering Management, (MS)

Engineering management is a discipline that prepares students to plan and manage industrial and commercial enterprises through the application of engineering principles. The MS in Engineering Management provides an opportunity for graduates of BS programs in engineering to prepare themselves for careers as managers. The curriculum provides further technical training for engineers, as well as basic management instruction. Graduates of the Masters of Science in Engineering Management program will be able to:

  1. Manage the cost, schedule, risk, and technical aspects of a project.

  2. Manage teams and individuals by using basic management, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  3. Use financial information to make decisions.

  4. Apply advanced engineering and management knowledge in a relevant area.

Admission Standards and Procedures

The following are minimum requirements for admission:

  1. An appropriate bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related science or mathematics program;
  2. One letter of recommendation from a person capable of assessing the applicant’s suitability for graduate work in engineering;
  3. An undergraduate GPA of at least 3.00 from an accredited college or university;
  1. Applicants whose native language is other than English must meet one of the following minimum requirements:
    • TOEFL = 85,

Applicants whose highest degree is from an international university may be required to have their credentials (transcripts) evaluated. The department will accept evaluations done by any credentialing agency listed on the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services web site (http://www.naces.org). A course-by course report is required.

Applicants are advised that meeting the minimum admission standards does not entitle an applicant to admission; meeting the standards only insures consideration of the application.
