The Early Music Certificate recognizes students in the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music who have made a specialty or subspecialty in the study of historically-informed performance of repertories before 1800. It has three components: coursework focusing on these repertories, lessons on a historical instrument or voice, and a public performance. The certificate may be earned concurrently with or independent of any degree(s) or certificate program(s) in the School.

Admission Requirements
An audition on the student’s intended primary instrument is required showing sufficient ability for this specialization as determined by the appropriate instrument/voice area in the School of Music. Program Requirements

Public Performance
3 semesters Collegium Musicum or approved solo with Collegium or Recital on a hist. instrument or voice or approved inclusion of hist. piece on recital. (0–3 credits) Total hours: 12–15 credits
Graduation Requirements
Successful completion of all requirements listed above. Retention Requirements
Continuous successful completion of certificate requirements.
