The Department of Computer Science offers courses leading to a B.S. degree with a major in computer science with an optional concentration in either cybersecurity, data science, or artificial intelligence. The department also offers a minor in computer science.
The BS in Computer Science degree program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Science.

General Concentration (12 hours)
Completion of four upper-division COMP electives, given the following restrictions: - COMP 1000 , 1100 , 1800 , 3050 , 4001 , or 4014 are not allowed to satisfy this requirement.
- At most 3 hours of independent studies and
- At most 3 hours of internship count for the 12 hours of concentration requirement.
Electives
Electives must be chosen to bring the total number of semester hours to 120.
Students should talk to their advisors to determine most suitable courses for them.
Computer Science Honors Designation
A student will earn the designation “with Honors in Computer Science” upon graduation having complied with the following requirements:
- Have an overall GPA of at least 3.25;
- Have a COMP GPA of at least 3.50;
- Earn Honors credits in three 3000-level or 4000-level COMP courses.
