Italian Studies Minor

The Italian Studies Minor (18 hours) at UM offers a flexible and interdisciplinary program intended to provide students with the opportunity to obtain broad-based knowledge of Italian language and culture that spans art, business, cinema, culinary arts, fashion design, history, language, literature and music.

Requirements:


A minimum of 18 semester hours, including the Core and Elective Courses.

Core:


Nine semester hours of any course under the ITAL (Italian) prefix.

Elective Courses:


Nine semester hours from the following options. No more than two courses from one subject area can count toward the minor.
In addition to the following list, courses with a significant Italian component offered by other UM departments or programs may count toward the minor requirements with the approval of the Italian Studies advisor. Such courses may include those offered as part of a university-approved study abroad program in Italy.
