The University of Memphis’s Certificate in School Counseling is intended for those individuals who have obtained a graduate degree in counseling from a program accredited by The Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The program goal is to complete the requirements to obtain Tennessee Licensure as a School Counselor.

Admission Requirements
- Hold a graduate degree in counseling from a program that was accredited by CACREP at the time of graduation or be currently enrolled in a graduate counseling program at the University of Memphis.
- Complete a program admission application including a personal statement and resume.
- Provide two letters of academic and/or professional reference; and
- Complete an interview with the school counseling coordinator.
Program Requirements
Total Credit Hours: 15 minimum (18 if special education/disability course needed) The school counseling coordinator will complete a transcript review to ensure that all requirements for licensure have been met; therefore, courses in addition to the following may be required. |
