The MBA concentration in Taxation provides students with both a practical and theoretical foundation and applied hands-on skills, and is dedicated exclusively to the study of taxation. It is designed for students who are interested in studying taxation for their own professional practice, for a family business, or as a career-builder by developing tax skills and broad business thinking while working for small or large corporations.

Admission Standards and Procedures
All MBA applicants must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university. There are no prerequisites for the core MBA curriculum. However, students entering the MBA programs are expected to be fluent in the language of business, with a working understanding of key concepts in economics, finance, and accounting. In addition, students are expected to have a working proficiency in statistics. International applicants will need to satisfy additional requirements, available here: https://www.memphis.edu/graduateadmissions/international/add_requirements.php For more information about the admission criteria, admission procedures, requirements, and deadlines; program-related expenses, and program details, please visit our MBA website here. Transfer Credit
- Transfer credit is accepted from accredited institutions for at most half of the credit hours required for the MBA degree. Our MBA requires 36 hours of coursework; therefore, we can accept a maximum of 18 hours of transfer credit after an evaluation of the course syllabi.
- If transfer credits are from a completed graduate degree, up to 15 credit hours may be transferred.
- To be accepted for transfer credit, courses must be similar enough to other courses offered by the Fogelman College that satisfy the MBA degree requirements. You can find the guidelines for transfer credit here.
- Grades earned at another institution will not be computed in the University cumulative grade point average, nor will they be accepted for transfer, unless they are “B” (3.0) or better.
- Please note: There is an 8-year limit on graduate coursework taken at the University of Memphis and transfer credit from other universities. Unless you are submitting transfer credits from a completed degree, then all Graduate Coursework will expire if it exceeds 8 years (per calendar year).
