Music - Performance (Violin & Viola) Concentration, (MMu)

This concentration is geared towards string players who are looking to focus on developing artistic skill on both violin and viola for solo/ensemble performance and teaching.

Program Requirements (32 Hours)


Performance (viola, violin).  The individual program of study is determined as a cooperative effort between the student and their advisor. 

Bibliography (3 hours)


Music History and Music Theory (6 hours)


3 hours of music history and 3 hours of music theory. Any graduate music theory or history course may be used for this requirement with the exception of individual studies, pedagogy, or repertory courses.

Ensemble (3 hours)


Should include a mix of large ensemble and chamber music.

Applied Music (16 hours)


Four semesters of applied lessons on each instrument at 2 credits per semester.

Recital (1 hour)
