Environmental Studies Minor

The Environmental Studies minor offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding human-environment relationships and addressing contemporary environmental challenges. Drawing from the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, the program explores topics such as environmental justice, sustainability, and the cultural, ethical, and social dimensions of environmental and climatic issues. The minor fosters critical thinking and leverages local and global perspectives to prepare students for impactful careers in environmentally conscious sectors of government, policy, law, nonprofits, international relations, research and development, education, journalism, consulting, politics, and other areas.

Requirements


18 credits (6 courses) 

*A course cannot be used more than once to fulfill a requirement in the minor. 

*At least 12 of the 18 credits for the minor must be taken at the upper-division level. 

*No more than 9 credits may come from any one department. 

*Directed readings, independent studies, special topics, and internship course offerings may also be eligible for credit with the Environmental Studies minor OR any additional related electives with the advisor’s approval.
