HIST 3371 - Dark Age Kingdoms: Europe and the Mediterranean, 500-1000 CE

Description: This course surveys the main themes and events of European and Mediterranean history between the end of the Roman empire and 1000 CE. Fundamentally, it studies the aftermath of the dissolution of the Roman empire’s hegemony over the entirety of the Mediterranean Sea and the onset of the so-called Dark Ages. It is an introduction to early medieval European and Mediterranean social, cultural, and economic history. There are no prerequisites.
