HIST 3671 - Memory & The American Civil War Credit Hours: 3 Description: As much public as professional property, the Civil War has had many owners, it has assumed many shapes, and it has been put to many uses since Confederate forces began to shell Fort Sumter. It is a war that has never quite ended, one that retains a tight grip on public imagination. This class will explore between both these wars: the one that exists in the historical archive and the one that continues to exist in our collective and ever-changing memories.
