AAAS 3000 - Hip Hop and Sociology**

Credit Hours: 3
Description: This course utilizes Hip-Hop culture to bridge sociological concepts to everyday life. Students will use artifacts such as rap music to learn theory and sociological methods for analyzing Hip-Hop artifacts for sociology concepts. The course will involve the discussion of various theoretical frameworks and sociological methodologies and their applications to Hip-Hop phenomena. We will explore scholarship, rap songs, and other related works with a focus on race, gender, sexuality, and identity, specifically Blackness. Cross-listing(s) SOCI 2058
