LDPS 8330 - Social Theory in Educational Research **

Credit Hours: 3
Description: This course examines major social theories and their application to the study of education. Students engage with classical and contemporary theorists to explore how frameworks, such as postmodernism, pragmatism, poststructuralism, and critical theory, shape educational research questions, methodologies, and interpretations. Emphasis is placed on analyzing how social theory informs the study of inequality, identity, and institutional structures in education. Doctoral students will apply theoretical perspectives to their own research interests, developing the capacity to situate empirical inquiry within broader theoretical traditions. Up to 6 credit hours
