ARTH 4030 - ST: African Diaspora Arts-Visual Cultures Credit Hours: 3 Description: African American, African, and African diaspora cultures share intermingled roles in each other’s arts and visual histories. This course examines major themes in African Diaspora Arts, a relatively new discipline. Theoretically informed and interdisciplinary, the course challenges established ways of visually interpreting the human experience. Focused on the global experiences of peoples of African descent, it broadens comprehension of the arts and expressive culture as tools of resistance, survival, and empowerment. $60 per credit hour
