ESCI 4372 - ST: Historical Ecology: Human-Environmental Interactions

Credit Hours: 3
Description: Human-environmental interactions are studied over time and through space utilizing the interdisciplinary frameworks of the natural, social, and historical sciences, where the approaches of archaeology, human biogeography, and geology will be emphasized. The importance of historical trajectories in human-landuse relations and the interconnections between cultural and ecological systems in producing modern landscapes are examined at a variety of temporal and spatial scales. The Lower Mississippi Valley in the Memphis vicinity is the primary region of study.
