ACCT 8425 - Seminar in Contemporary Accounting Research Credit Hours: 3 Description: The objective of this seminar is threefold. The first objective is to improve students’ abilities to generate viable research questions that will contribute to the existing accounting and finance literature and ultimately be publishable in top-tier journals. Second, students will learn to present and discuss their ideas with others in a clear and concise manner as well as offer constructive criticism of their classmates’ work. Third, this course will familiarize students with the newest working papers and cutting-edge research in their fields of interest. The course is rigorous, and students are expected to invest a sufficient amount of time to carefully study the research papers assigned by the instructor. The end-of-semester goal for each student is to have a viable research proposal with the potential to become a job market paper.
