English Minor

The minor in English engages students with courses from six concentrations: African American Literature, Applied Linguistics, Creative Writing, Literature, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), and Professional Writing. In consultation with the English Advisor, students may choose to focus on one concentration, or select courses from multiples areas, allowing for flexibility and diversity. Students minoring in English have access to upper division Honors courses (if qualified), internships with local business partners, study abroad programs, and online courses. English prepares students for unlimited career paths such as in teaching, law, editing, writing, government, technology, and content creation.

Completion of the following 9 hours:

Upper Division Requirements


Completion of 12 upper division hours in English (excluding ENGL 3500  and ENGL 3603 ).
