Earth Sciences, Geology Concentration (B.A.)

To prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and experience to understand the dynamic processes of Earth's interior and surface.  The skills, knowledge, and experience acquired, applied, and practiced through the geology concentration are particularly relevant across STEM workforces.

University General Education Program (41 Hours)


See Graduation from the University for the University General Education Program requirements. English majors take ENGL 1010 ENGL 1020 , and ENGL 2201  or ENGL 2202  to complete General Education Program Requirements and English Major requirements.

College and Degree (B.A.) Requirements (6-9 hours)


The College and Bachelor of Arts requirements  are in addition to the University General Education Program requirements that are listed above.

The Major (42-43 hours)


Core Requirements (13 hours):


All students must take ESCI 4202 Geomorphology (4) , ESCI 4515 Geographic Info Science (3) , ESCI 4521 Quantitative Methods (3) , and ESCI 4531 Field Methods in Earth Sciences (3) .

In addition to above, all students must fulfill the requirements for one of the four concentrations offered in the department: (a) Geoarchaeology , (b) Geography , (c) Geology , and (d) Environmental Sciences

Electives may be chosen to bring the total number of hours to 120.
