Credit Hours: (3) Description: Basic concepts in materials science emphasizing relationships between microscopic structure and properties; crystallography and symmetries, thermodynamics of material, phase equilibria, structure of ceramics and polymers, mechanical properties of material, kinetics of phase transformations in materials. PREREQUISITE:PHYS 3010. Open only to students in the Materials Science concentration within the Physics major.
