Requirements

Students wishing to declare a minor in music must first apply to the School of Music and audition on their instrument (or voice) for acceptance. Music minor applicants also take a music theory assessment to determine proper music theory placement. The minor in Music consists of 21 credit hours and is available to any student who completes the following requirements:

Applied Music Individual Instruction (4 hours)

2 Semesters Appropriate Ensembles (2 hours)

Music Theory (6 hours)

MUTC 1008 - Music Theory I Credit Hours: (3)
MUTC 1009 - Music Theory II Credit Hours: (3)

Choose One From (3 hours)

MUHL 3301 - History of Music to 1750 Credit Hours: (3)
MUHL 3302 - History of Music Since 1750 Credit Hours: (3)
MUHL 3303 - Western Music History Credit Hours: (3)

Upper Division Electives (6 hours)

All music minors are required to attend a minimum of 25 concerts or recitals.
