Creative Mass Media Minor

The minor in creative mass media introduces students to the skills and tools of the field of media design & production. Its core focuses on foundational skills while its electives allow students to specialize in a specific area of creative media.

To complete a minor in Creative Mass Media, a student must earn 18 hours of credit in the Department of Journalism and Strategic Media meeting the following conditions:

• JRSM 1750 - Media Writing I Credit Hours: (3)
• JRSM 2121 - Media Writing II Credit Hours: (3)
• JRSM 3900 - Visual Media ** Credit Hours: (3)
• JOUR 3526 - Multimedia Storytelling** Credit Hours: (3)

• CRMM 4140 - Publication Design Credit Hours: (3)
• CRMM 4500 - Web Publish I: html/CSS Credit Hours: (3)
• CRMM 4526 - Photojournalism Credit Hours: (3)
• CRMM 4550 - Web Publish II: html/CSS Credit Hours: (3)
• CRMM 4560 - Interactive Media Design Credit Hours: (3)
• CRMM 4600 - Creative Social Video Credit Hours: (3)
• CRMM 4900 - Creative Media Lab Credit Hours: (3)

• Coursework for all minors will be determined by the student in conference with the advisor with the approval of the department chair.

  Students with a major in either advertising or public relations can satisfy the requirements of the Creative Mass Media minor with 9 hours of JOUR 3526 and any two CRMM courses in addition to the shared Journalism and Strategic Media core of JRSM 1750, 2121, and 4700. Students majoring in journalism are not eligible for the creative mass media minor.
