The School of Communication Sciences and Disorders  offers a minor in American Sign Language (ASL). This program is for students in various disciplines across campus who are interested in learning and using ASL. The minor is intended to teach students the fundamentals of ASL as well as enrich students’ knowledge of the Deaf and Deaf Culture.

A minimum of 18 credit hours is required. The minor requires 9 credit hours of introductory and intermediate ASL (AUSP 1010, 1020, and 2010), as well as 9 hours at the upper division level (3000 and 4000 level) with choices of courses focusing on fingerspelling; deaf culture and history; ASL for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and educators; and psychological, sociological and educational perspectives of deafness.

Note:  AUSP 2020 Inter Amer Sign Language II is available, but not required for the minor.
