The minor in Social Media introduces students to the skills and tools of the field of social media content creation and analysis. Its core focused on the breadth of social media while its electives allow students to specialize in a specific area of social media.

Social Media Minor

To complete the minor in Social Media, a student must earn 18 hours of credit in Journalism & Strategic Media:

STRM 3212 - Public Relations Writing** Credit Hours: (3)
STRM 4221 - Ad Creative Strategy Credit Hours: (3)
STRM 4220 - Branding & Strategic Media** Credit Hours: (3)
CRMM 4920 - Information Design Credit Hours: (3)
Students in Broadcast Journalism, Creative Mass Media, Journalism or Sports Media can satisfy the requirements of the social media minor with STRM 3210, STRM 3213, and STRM 4210 in addition to the shared Journalism and Strategic Media core of JRSM 1750, 2121, and 4700.

Students majoring in Strategic Media are not eligible for the social media minor.
