K-12 Education Minor

Welcome to the K-12 Education Minor for Non-Education Majors. This minor leads to a Tennessee License to teach grades 6-12. Your undergraduate major content area must meet one of the MAT Secondary, Art, Music, World Languages, or Physical Education concentration areas.
MAT: K-12 Minor Education candidates must complete 18 hours of undergraduate education course work as well as 15 hours of MAT graduate course work. The TN Job-Embedded Practitioner’s License may be received upon completion of the Bachelor’s degree and K-12 Education Minor. Candidates must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program (TEP) by the end of their 1st semester of MAT graduate course work. Candidates must successfully complete the MAT Program and graduate to advance to the Professional teaching license in Tennessee.
