The School of Public Health at the University of Memphis is offering a BSPH/MPH ABM program option to undergraduate students with a public health major (BSPH). This will allow students to accelerate their MPH degree within five years (4 years BSPH + 1 year MPH). This accelerated path is designed for high-achieving and high-quality students with the ability to complete bachelor’s and master’s degrees within five years.

Requirements
Undergraduate students considering an accelerated graduate program must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater and have completed at least 60 credit hours, half of which should be public health courses relevant to the BSPH degree. The student(s) should meet with an academic advisor to discuss program requirements to ascertain if minimum qualifications have been met for entry into the BSPH/MPH ABM program. Transfer Credit
It is possible for students to transfer credit to the ABM program. Students seeking this option will need to apply for credit transfer through the proper channels, meet with their advisor, and supply the syllabus of their proposed transfer courses for review. The SPH ABM program allows students to earn up to 12 credit hours toward the requirements of both bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Integrated Public Health Core (30 hours)
Field Experience & Capstone (4 hours)
Senior Capstone Experience (2 hours)
The senior Capstone Experience is a student’s culminating experience or capstone designed to synthesize and integrate the content of a student’s program of study. The senior project is intended to coalesce the theoretical and applied areas of study into an academically-relevant example of scholarship. Students will complete research on a topic of their choice with approval of their senior project instructor. The senior capstone project is completed during a student’s final semester and includes a completed e-portfolio. MPH Graduate Courses: (12 hours)
The four courses that undergraduate students should take to accelerate their path toward MPH attainment are: - PUBH 7150: Biostatistical Methods I
- PUBH 7160: Social and Behavioral Science Principles
- PUBH 7170: Epidemiology in Public Health I
- PUBH 7180: Foundations of Public Health
