Requirements
Students wishing to be certified by the Economics Department take four (4) classes to complete the Certificate Program. Three (3) of the classes can be selected from the list below:
Note
The fourth class consists of a capstone research project. This class can be any upper-division economics class not listed above, where the student would complete the capstone research project on the subject matter discussed in the class. When an appropriate upper-division economics class is not available, an alternative is to take ECON 4910 - Independent Study in Economics under the supervision of a faculty member appointed by the Department Chair.
The economics classes taken under this certificate program count for major credits for any students majoring in Business Economics. However, the MATH classes cannot be used to substitute for any upper-division courses in the Business Economics major. Further, at least two (2) of the four (4) classes required by the Certificate Program must be economics courses.
The Economics Certificate is issued by the Economics Department and is not posted to the student’s transcript.
