University General Education Program (35 hours in addition to 6 hours of Music History)

Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music

Ensemble Requirement
All Music majors must take a minimum of eight (8) semesters of ensemble. The specific requirements for this are determined by each division and degree program. Please consult with your adviser for the specific outline for your applied area and degree program exceptions. Music Education Instrumental students must take two semesters of Marching Band (string players exempt) and one semester of University Singers, Chamber Choir, or Collegiate Choir as part of their ensemble requirement.
Concert Attendance:
All Music majors are required to attend a minimum of 100 concerts or recitals in the four-year program (suggested 25 per year). Records will be maintained in by the School of Music on the number of events attended by each student and an annual report will be filed with the Director.
Music Education: (54 hours)

Applied Music:
at least 2 hours at the upper division level (12)
Electives (0 - 12 hours)
Completion of elective courses to bring the total to a minimum of 120 semester hours (124 or 125 for students in the Music Education concentration depending on emphasis). Courses will be chosen by the student in consultation with the advisor and major professor.
